A healthy Banana nut bread recipe loaded with banana flavor and chopped walnuts. It bakes up tender, moist, and dense with soft crumb.
Our liking for banana bread started from the drives we used to take to a local coffee shop nearby for a quick grab of banana bread and coffee before the beginning of every road trip. After several trial and errors, finally got the measurements right for that magical tasting banana bread.

I say banana bread is a way to one’s heart. It is so magical. The whole house is filled with warmth while the bread is being baked and makes everything better. And, it is loved by toddlers and adults equally. This is my favorite banana bread recipe. Try this one out, if you haven’t already.
What is so good about this recipe? It is made with whole wheat flour, banana flavor in every bite, and naturally sweetened with honey/maple syrup, and it is egg-free! You are only a step away from making healthy banana nut bread using this recipe.

How to make Healthy Banana Nut Bread ?
Ingredients that you will need to make this recipe –
- Whole wheat flour – traditional banana bread recipe calls for all-purpose flour. This recipe is 100 percent whole wheat flour.
- Coconut Oil – Whole wheat flour is usually hard to work with, they tend to dry out soon if there is no enough moisture. The oil keeps the bread incredibly moist and helps to maintain the tender crumb that we like.
- Bananas: Browner the banans, better it is. Look for bananas that are at least spotty brown. Riper the bananas, the sweeter it is, and lends more moisture.
- Maple syrup or (honey+sugar): You can skip the honey and go all maple syrup here (Vegan option). This is used as a sweetener in the bread along with very ripe bananas. I go a little less on sweetener here as it helps the banana flavor to really shine.
- Instant Coffee: This is really an optional ingredient. But, coffee usually helps to give a depth of flavor to the bananas. So add it if you like.
- Milk or yogurt: Helps to soften the flour. I prefer to use yogurt.
- Spices & Salt
- Leavening agent
- Nuts

Tips
- Mash the bananas using an electric mixer.
- Use really ripe bananas, it truly amps up the flavor. More bananas lend a moist and flavourful bread.
- Oil – I love to use coconut oil, any other neutral-tasting oil can be used
- Make any nut substitutions if you’d like. You can use pecans, almonds, etc. Walnuts are classic.
How to make it?
Preheat oven to 350 F. Grease 9*5 loaf pan and set aside.
In a bowl, add mashed bananas (I used a mixer to mash it, no lumps) and all the wet ingredients together.

Next, add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, allspice, salt and combine. Fold in chopped nuts.

Pour the batter onto a greased tray, and bake.

bake for 62-65 mins or until a toothpick comes clean. Loosely cover the bread with aluminum foil at 35 minutes mark to prevent the top from getting too brown. The bread is done when a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. few moist crumbs are okay. This may be before or after 1 hour depending on your oven, so begin checking every 5 minutes at the 55-minute mark or so.

Let the bread cool in the loaf pan for at least 10 minutes. Carefully transfer the loaf to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

I hope you like the healthy banana nut bread recipe. It is-
- healthy
- soft
- moist
- tender
