When your baby is ready to try various blends, the pairing of the sweet potato and broccoli is a good start. (Around 9 months)
Broccoli puree alone is bland in taste, pairing it along with sweet potato adds sweet and rich creamy flavour to the puree. You can blend the vegetables to get a smooth texture or chunkier based on the age and eating habits of the baby
Check with your paediatrician before introducing any new food. Always follow the 3-day rule
How do we make the puree?
Very simple.
Steam the cut sweet potato and broccoli together along with some water
When it cools down, blend them together in a jar along with 2-3 tbsp of boiled water or applesauce
Puree can be frozen once it has cooled down completely.
SWEET POTATO AND BROCCOLI PUREE

Ingredients: 1 cup = 240 ml
- 1/2 cup chopped sweet potato
- 1/2 cup broccoli
- 1 cup water
Preparation:
- Wash and cut the vegetables.
- In a sauce pan, add water and vegetables together. Cover and cook for 10-15 mins. Stir occasionally.
- Allow the vegetables to cool down. Put the vegetables in a blender and blend until smooth.
- Serve warm.
Tip: Left over puree can be frozen.
